What is a pushbutton?
A pushbutton is not a switch, a pushbutton does not close a circuit, it only gives an impulse to activate a circuit or process. This means that the push button can only be activated by pressing it. The pulse based on the line resistance. These components can be used, for example, as a bell or staircase light button for a staircase. Pressing the button sends a signal to the substation to close the circuit. This activates a relay that switches further actions. The technology also works as an opener or motion detector for the front door. The range of applications is very wide.
The pushbutton that springs back
As mentioned earlier, a pushbutton is a control element that is activated when pressed and then returned to its original position. Usually, mechanical springs are used for this purpose. Unlike switches (which stay in place), pushbuttons give no visual indication that they have been pressed. This can only be identified by association effects.
How do pushbuttons and switches differ?
Unlike a pushbutton, a switch can complete a circuit. A switch is a part of a component that uses conductive material to make or break an electrical connection between two terminals. They are usually manually controlled and manually operated. Pressing a switch creates a bridge between conductive connections that turns on a living room light, for example. Repeatedly pressing the switch breaks the connection, i.e., interrupts the current flow. The result was that the living room lights went out. Super for saving electricity.
