What is a PV plug?
In order to connect your photovoltaic system safely and reliably with the solat cable, you need high-quality PV plugs. Currently, there are many different photovoltaic plug systems. Basically, however, one standard - MC4 or Tyco - has prevailed. Similar to cables, connectors must be waterproof, weatherproof, flame retardant and temperature stable. Quick installation with minimal tools makes the job easier, and low resistance improves system performance.
Solar connector requirements
Solar cables must be double-insulated and especially weather-resistant. Special manufacturing processes give them higher thermal pressure and tensile strength, short-circuit protection and chemical resistance. In addition, they should not melt, be resistant to soldering irons, have high impact strength and crack resistance, and be highly resistant to abrasion and weathering. This results in high aging resistance, so you can use your photovoltaic system for a long time without any problems. As you can see, very high demands are placed not only on the solar cables, but also on the PV connectors. To be sure that these requirements are met, please use only tested connectors.
Connection techniques
PV connectors specially developed for connecting individual solar modules ensure a secure hold for many years. When selecting the appropriate plug, make sure that only plugs approved by the solar cable manufacturer are used. Time and again, mistakes are made during installation or costs are saved that later cost the operator dearly. Here, too, the rule applies: "Only the best is good enough". An experienced electrician knows which connectors to use for the installation. One requirement that a solar connector must always meet is that it must be contactless. They must also be completely waterproof, or prevent moisture ingress. However, cheap products often cannot meet these requirements. Therefore, it is recommended to use only brand manufacturers.
